Major Gabe Gonzales began his law enforcement career in December of 1999 with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Cadet. After his graduation from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy, he worked in patrol, fugitive apprehension, and narcotics. Major Gonzales would work a grander part of his career in Criminal Investigations, and ultimately lead the division as commander. He achieved promotional goals of each rank and was promoted to his current rank of Major for the last 8 years. He was also the SWAT Commander for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office until August of 2023. Major Gonzales has several advanced trainings in various areas of law enforcement, including FBI-LEEDA Management Training. He has been an Active Shooter Instructor and has engaged in numerous trainings in our community. Major Gonzales is also a recipient of the Medal of Honor for an undercover operation in which he excelled.
